Intellectual Disability

Intellectual Disbaility is diagnosed by determining a child's IQ score, and assessing their social, conceptual and practical functioning. Either a verbal or non-verbal cognitive assessment will be administered depending on the child's presentation and/or background history. â€‹

An assessment for Intellectual Disability will consist of:

​

  1. Parent initial consultation 

  2. Adaptive behaviour assessment with parent 

  3. Adaptive behaviour assessment with teacher 

  4. Rapport session with child 

  5. Cognitive assessment (verbal or non-verbal) 

  6. Liaison with teachers and other health professionals as required

  7. Report preparation

  8. Parent feedback consultation
